Close your eyes and travel back,
Experience the human past.
Awakened consciousness,
Lizard brain turned infinite.
Clothing covers naked flesh,
Protecting from the elements.
Woven leaves or sheep’s wool,
Berries, honey, bellies full.
Seeking ever new labor,
Care for family and treasure,
Gather, nurture, wonder,
Inspire every member.
Shaping wood and stone shelter,
Building stronger tribe than ever.
Explore, protect, conquer,
Settle stream, hill, and pasture.
Stories shared, myths lighten woe,
Around the nightly campfire glow,
We wrestle loss and love,
Questioning of stars above.
Fletched arrow and sharpened blade, hostile neighbor, wild beast engage,
Banished forest terror,
We seek to spread an empire.
Frail in nature, strong in grit,
Through struggles many we persist,
Mastering the darkness,
Building grander monuments.
When in doubt, afraid of ‘they’,
Communication is the way,
Building bridges, more to sway,
Trade keeps famine most at bay.
Virtue shared and passed along,
Journeying every nation,
As the wisest ones for long do long,
For a promised incarnation.
